Configuring Outlook Express for POP3 (Macintosh OS X)

To modify your existing Outlook Express account, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Select Tools =>Accounts. The "Accounts" window will appear that looks similar to this.


  2. Double click on the account that you have previously created in the Outlook Express Setup Assistant.
  3. The "Edit Account" window appears. In the Name field, enter your name, in the email address, enter user@domain (please remember that user should be substituted with your username & domain should be your actual domain name), Insert your Account ID (user@domain), POP server mail.domain and SMTP server settings mail.domain.


  4. Click on the button saying Click here for advanced sending options on the bottom of the window. This will allow you to setup SMTP/Outgoing Mail Server authentication.
  5. Select "SMTP server requires authentication" and select "Use same settings as my incoming server"
  6. Click OK to close the Account Properties, and then you can close the Accounts window from its handle.
  7. Within the Account Settings tab, in the Name field, insert your name as you would like it to appear on outgoing messages, insert your email address (make sure to replace user@domain with your actual username and domain name).
  8. Click the "OK" button at the bottom of the Account Settings window to complete your account setup.
