- What is a reseller?
A Reseller is one who resells our services while providing an
enhanced level of service to their clients. These services may contain web page
design, audio or video content, etc. A Reseller will provide support to their
clients and bill them according to their specifications. We simply bill our
Resellers and provide technical support to them directly.
- Who is softCom
SoftCom Technology
Consulting Inc. is a privately held Canadian company located in Toronto, Canada.
Services are provided internationally to a full range of consumers and business
customers and include web and application hosting services, email retrieval
services, dial-up Internet access and technology consulting services. Many of
these services are provided through the wholly owned brands – myhosting.com™,
mail2web.com™, and alloterra.net™. With each of these brands, SoftCom strives to
provide affordable and reliable solutions to their international base of
customers.
- As a Reseller, how much can I charge my clients?
It is at your discretion to charge whatever you want to your
customers. We just take care of the technical side--domain registration, account
setup, and other demands as per your request. You will be charged for all domains
active under your billing account. It is your responsibility to collect funds
from all of your clients.
- Do I have to have a myhosting.com
account to be a Reseller?
Yes. You must have one domain account in order to qualify as a myhosting.com Reseller. We feel that in order to best represent myhosting.com, you must use the services for yourself.
- Are you the owner of the servers
and all hardware?
Yes, we are the
owner/operator of the server hardware and Internet connections
- Can I resell myhosting.com applications?

- Do you offer any discounts for Resellers?
Yes. If you have more than 10 accounts connected to your Reseller ID, we will give you 5% discount. This discount is applied only to the base hosting fee, not to the extra services.

- How should a Reseller handle domain registration and billing their clients?
A Reseller should list themselves as the Administrative Contact for a domain and should list the actual company as the owner of the domain name, by using the company name and address in the Organization Information section of the registration. The Organization section should not be listed as the Reseller's company, unless the domain name will actually be
owned/used by the Reseller. The Billing Contact can be listed as either the company or the Reseller. However, if the client is listed as the Billing Contact, the Reseller should make sure that the client understands they are responsible for payment
of the domain renewal. It is probably less confusing for the client if the Reseller is billed by the domain registrar, and then, in turn, bills the client.
- Does myhosting.com allow adult sites?
No,
myhosting.com™ does not permit the hosting of any sexually explicit materials,
whether graphical, textual, video, audio, encrypted, protected, proprietary, or
in any other formats. While we are committed to the protection of free speech of
our clients, we cannot permit sexually explicit material on our web servers for
many reasons. We object to the hosting of adult content principally for the
resource problems that it places on our systems, i.e. unpredictable bandwidth
consumption and potential degradation on service levels for other customers.
Generally, adult sites can create an unexpected degree of resource demands upon
a web server, potentially jeopardizing the security of all other customers
hosted on that particular segment. To review our

- How long have you been in this
business?
SoftCom Technology
Consulting Inc. was founded in early 1997 with the introduction of web hosting
and technology consulting services. Since then, services have been expanded to
include application hosting, email retrieval services and dial-up Internet
access. SoftCom continues to focus on the core business that has made it a
success from the very beginning by continually exploring ways of improving
existing services and by introducing new complementary services.
- Who handles support questions for a Reseller's customer?
The Reseller program is designed to work so that the Reseller acts as front line support for their customers. In the event the Reseller is asked a question he does not know, the Reseller then contacts us on behalf of the customer. As a standard procedure and in order to avoid possible conflicts, we
normally do not interact with the customers of the Reseller.
- What happens if a reseller's customer finds out myhosting.com is really
the hosting company?
Because a
Reseller is providing additional services that myhosting.com does not provide
directly to customers, the Reseller is justified in charging a higher fee to
their customers.
- What type of Internet
connections do you have?
Our state-of-the-art network
is fully switched using Cisco network gear and is engineered with full
redundancy to ensure there is no single point of failure. myhosting.com has
fully redundant high-speed fiber optic connections (multiple OC3’s) to the
Internet backbone with carriers UUNET and Big Pipe Inc. Network connectivity to
our web servers will never be an issue.
