by myhosting.com on June 17, 2010

Affiliate marketing is fairly easy: All you need to start is an idea and a website. Once you decide what you want your website to be about – and it can be anything, If you like crafts or animals, or woodworking, or even if you want to start a small business on your niche – you can start your website and soon enough your affiliate marketing. Your website provider will guide you through it all. All you need is an idea.

After you get your website up and running, you will need to ad content. Content is just writing about what you like, what you built your website for. You can add pictures and information about what you do and how you do it. Let’s say you started your site for crafts. You could write about the different type of crafts you do. Maybe scrap booking or knitting, then you can write about how you do your scrapbooks, what supplies you use and maybe put some pictures of what you have done.

After you have your site started, it doesn’t even need to be complete. I mean you can always add more things, but you just need to have enough content that will attract people. Now what you want to do is search for larger websites that sell crafting materials and offer affiliate marketing. You will sign up with this company and they will allow you to put what are called affiliate ads, which is really just a link on your website that will advertise their company.

This is affiliate marketing. What happens is the larger site will give you a HTML code to put on your site. This is not hard, all you do is copy and paste the code into the correct place. Your website hosting place will give you the information on how to do this. After you do this, an ad for the larger affiliate marketing company will appear on your site. When someone visits your site and clicks on the ad from the larger company, that company will pay you if the person either purchases something or signs up with that site.

Look for as many sites as you can find that do affiliate marketing. The only limit you have is the amount of space your website hosting company provides. Some affiliate marketing websites may pay $1.00 per ad that is “clicked on” while others might even pay upto $25.00. Look for companies that relate to your website and pay good amount money.

There are sites that might not even directly relate to your site that will allow you to put their link or ad on your site and be good for affiliate marketing. Companies know that people looking art crafts might also be interested in children’s items, or other home materials. When you find an affiliate marketing site that isn’t directly related, let them know what your site is about and they will let you know if you can place their ad on your site. This is affiliate marketing. You can make good money this way. It is definitely worth trying!

reading this, I was wondering: what’s the highest number of ads you’ve ever seen someone cram onto their website?

as i understand, if you’re solely using google ads, you’d be limited to 3 ads on any visible location on screen. But of course you could have google ads and then another ad service.
