    I guess I'm not completely clear on exactly what an affiliate is in this context?

    An affiliate with Softcom and myhosting.com receives payment for signups they direct to us. This includes signups for email, web hosting, VPS et al. Payout and other details can be seen at Web Hosting Affiliate Program | myhostingaffiliates.com
