Is there a way to type a message into my phone and have that message appear on my Facebook page and Twitter account all at once? I thought maybe there's an app for that.

Hi Stoddard!
Depending on what type of device you have, you can try Tweetdeck, or Hootsuite.
You can also enable the selective twitter application on facebook, so when you tweet, mark the tweet with #fb, which will go right to your facebook profile.
The only limitation is that you'll need to have your twitter profile public.
