Are there any secrets to improving the quality of the wifi connection you get at home?

Hi, WrigleyF!

The one thing I do at home is put a piece of aluminum foil either around my antenna. Some people use a pringles chip can cut in half and put it around your antenna. If you put the entire can around it, it creates a Faraday cage (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faraday_cage) which will just bounce the signal in the can, instead of projecting the signal outward.
