Is it useful to get a control panel with an unsecure connection option?

You can access your control panel either securely (through links that begin with https://) or insecurely (links begin with http://), but I would recommend always using the secure option - because why not?
("Secure" means the data is being encrypted between your PC and the actual server that is hosting up your control panel inside the myhosting network. Anyone who manages to listen in between would simply see noise. So it's a very good idea to use a secure connection all the time, as it protects your privacy, and prevents people from reading your password and making unwanted intrusions into your server.)
Even still, it is up to you whether to use secure or insecure, but secure is definitely the way to go.
