If I were to run just a small business selling crafts, as a way to make a little money on the side, would I need a hosting package with unlimited domains? Would there be any reason to have more than one web page for this operation?

This is a feature known as a "Domain Hosting". Simply by typing the new address in the browser (like www.second-site.com) your visitors will automatically see the content hosted on your primary website (at www.your-site.com). Or, with your new address (like www.third-site.com) your visitors will automatically see content hosted on your primary site from a sub-directory (at www.your-site.com/third)

Having multiple websites allows you to broaden your horizons into multiple related niches. In addition, having several websites also gives you the power of creating a “link farm.” Link farms are networks of websites that all link to each other, with on main website as the main focus. The more links to your site there are posted on the web, the higher your search engine ranking will be. This is just one of the advantages of having multiple domains.
