programming teachers

Has anyone taught computer programming, either to adults or at a high school? Do you need a special teaching certificate, or do you just need real-world experience?

I taught a computer programming class in high school even though I was a student myself. The teacher was sick for two months, and the substitute didn't know anything about computers. It was a bit of a weird situation. The substitute sat at a desk at the back while I taught the class.

I was given an award at the end of the year.
