What does bandwidth mean? May I end up paying extra if I exceed the limit.

All activity served from your website constitutes data transfer. For example, every time a web page, image, midi file, mpeg video, email, etc. is loaded or transferred from or to a server, data transfer is generated. For example you are on a Basic Hosting plan then this means that your data transfer (bandwidth) limit is 50 GB. So what does this 50GB mean? It means that if you have a 5MB big mp3 file on your web site then every time it is downloaded your bandwidth limit will decrease by 5MB. After it’s been downloaded ten thousand times (5x10000=50,000MB=50GB) then you will run out of data transfer. I hope this makes sense.

Just thought I should add to this, if you exceed your monthly bandwidth, you will receive charges for it. There is a setting in your myhosting.com control panel to automatically de-activate your site once the bandwidth limit is reached so that you don't incur any charges. To set this up, follow the steps below:

1. Log into http://support.myhosting.com
2. Click on Site Management
3. Click on Site Settings
4. Click on Data Transfer Used
5. Click "Review/Update your Data Transfer billing preference"
6. Choose the first option, "I authorize myhosting.com to deactivate...." and click Update.
