support for VMware server

Why did support for VMware server end earlier this year? And what existing server available now is closest to VMware server? I'm interested to see where former VMware server customers migrated to!

VMware has declared VMware Server End Of Availability on January 2010 with the actual support ending on June 30th, 2011. More details can be read here (http://www.vmware.com/support/policies/lifecycle/general/index.html#policy_server)
