Adding a Subdomain

Subdomains can be created either through the control panel (http://myhosting.com/kb/Creating_and_Assigning_Subdomains) or through Plesk Panel (http://myhosting.com/kb/How_to_Add_and_Manage_Domains_and_Subdomains_in_Pl esk_10). Which is the correct way?

Presuming that your domain name is already setup in your onCloud control panel, so too should your subdomain be created there.
The advantage to setting things up in onCloud is use of myhosting.com standard nameservers to simplify domain registration and management. So long as you wish to use point your domain name to myhosting.com DNS servers (ns.myhosting.com, ns1.myhosting.com, ns2.myhosting.com), using your onCloud control panel is the best route.

However, if you wish to use custom nameservers running on your VPS whether to whitelabel your product or for other reasons, you can manage your domain names within Plesk directly.

Note, it is definitely best to keep this consistent so if you're using onCloud for your main domain, creating the subdomain in Plesk instead could be confusing or problematic later and is not recommend. I would go one route or the other with all domains/subdomains.

I have the Plesk VPS for Business - Linux (CentOS) plan. My domain is already set up in the onCloud Control Panel.

I added a subdomain in the control panel, however, it's now showing up in Plesk.

In the control panel, my subdomain shows up as being "in sync" and "enabled". There is no Web Hosting or Mail Hosting, but I'm assuming that it's inheriting this from the main domain. I've tried resubmitting the domain to Plesk, but it didn't work.

In the Plesk panel, there is no subdomain. There also isn't anything showing up in the Action Log (http://download1.parallels.net/Plesk/PP10/10.3.1/Doc/en-US/online/plesk-administrator-guide/59223.htm).

How can I find out why the subdomain isn't showing up in Plesk panel?

Since the main domain is added in your Control Panel, I think this should be enough. Can you try deleting the sub-domain from the control panel and adding it in Plesk instead, from Plesk's "Add New Subdomain" button?

It wasn't enough. Uploading files to goodmanent.net/subdomains/ returned error 550 "Permission denied". Going to http://intranet.goodmanent.net in the browser returns error 502.

I've deleted the subdomain in the control panel, and created it in Plesk Panel. Two new directories were created:

goodmanent.net/intranet/
goodmanent.net/subdomains/intranet/

Files uploaded to goodmanent.net/intranet/ show up in http://intranet.goodmanent.net, so it seems to be working now.

Yeah, ixnay my original post on this, my apologies. Your myhosting.com onCloud Control Panel is where the administrator of Plesk should add in any customer domains, the customer can then manage their own subdomains; that is the logic of the system currently.

I wonder if it would be a good idea to modify the Knowledge Base (http://myhosting.com/kb/Creating_and_Assigning_Subdomains) article that says to create a subdomain in the onCloud control panel.
