How Can I Change Server Settings?

Greetings,

I've run into serious problems (http://myhosting.com/forums/myhosting-forums/troubleshooting/234-trying-install-pear-package.html) trying to use PHP with the Linux Basic (http://myhosting.com/web-hosting/basic.aspx) Hosting. What type of plan do I need to get in order to change settings on the server? Do I need a "Virtual Private Server"?

Hi Shane. If you want to change server-side settings, you'll need a VPS or dedicated server.

This is because server-side settings changes in any shared hosting server will affect all of the customers on that server.
