A new feature has been added for SQL databases in the support.myhosting.com control panel. It allows a user to backup their database and download the file. It also allows the user to upload a back file and restore their database. This feature is available from the manage database page in the Site Management / Microsoft SQL Database section. The feature applies to both SQL 2000 databases and SQL 2008 Beta databases.

Give it a try and let me know if you have any questions.

First, does the backup solution you're referring to make the files available as a zip? And I've got a lot of files that are near and dear to me. What are the two best backup options in general?

Yes backups do usually come in the form of a zip file or other archiving formats. I would say do a backup from cpanel if you can.
