PING - Packet Internet Gropping

Ping is a computer network administration utility used to test the reachability of a host on an Internet Protocol (IP) network and to measure the round-trip time for messages sent from the originating host to a destination computer.

Usage of Ping:
Enter the word ping, followed by a space, then the domain name. For example:

ping www.google.com

If the results show a series of replies, the connection is working. The time shows you how fast the connection is. If you see a "timed out" error instead of a reply, there is a breakdown somewhere between your computer and the domain. In this case; the next step would be to perform a traceroute.
