Magento emails not being sent

Magento emails, from within the application, are not being sent. I've tried everything I can think of, but I can't get the emails to work, expect for the two emails that did work @ 11:50 and 11:55pm last night.

In the system > config > system settings I've tried almost every variation of setting from localhost to ex.myhosting.com to the vps and everything I've read in about all the threads about email in this forum.

I can't seem to figure out why 2 emails made it but the other 50 haven't. Does anyone have any suggestions?
