Avoid Snitz Forum
Recently a friend of mine had his forum hacked and a bunch of stuff got inserted into his DB. He was running Snitz and found out too late that there were some serious security issues that had not been addressed. When we looked into it we found out that Snitz hasn't updated their code in almost 2 years. He restored the database from a back up but the problem was that the risk was still there and whoever did it could do it again. He ended up switching to phpBB. The move over wasn't fun but at least they update their software regularly. If you're looking for a forum avoid Snitz. If you are using Snitz you might want to consider finding an alternative. If something happens don't say I didn't warn ya.

Re: Avoid Snitz Forum
I have to agree with the above poster. Snitz has been removed from the application manager in the myhosting control panel for this very reason. The phpBB application is probably one of the most popular bulletin board applications available, and due to it's open source nature it's updated frequently.

DotNetNuke has a forum module for those not wanting a non php based forum software.
