If you try to sell something on craigslist, how do you go about responding to people who respond to your ad? Should you verify who they are somehow before you allow them to see your product in person?

The downfall to craigslist is that I don't believe there is a verification system (like eBay's ranking system), especially since deals are made via email --- separate from the craigslist website.

I think it depends on the product you're selling, but I've never had any problems in the past. Maybe talk to the person on the phone to see if they sound shady at all.

I've always either met up in public places to sell items, and one time when they had to come to my house to pick up an elliptical, i made sure i had friends at the house.
