Google analytics or AWStats?

Hi,
I though to post this in seo forum and later thought this is the correct forum.

I have google analytics as well as awstats for my site.
awstat's stats are always higher than google analytics when it come to number of visitors.

which one is more accurate?
which one don't count bots?
do google analytics counts subdomain visit even though i install theire code in home page only in the main domain (xxxs.com)?

I can't actually answer all of your questions, but I can say that everyone I come across raves about how amazing that Google Analytics is and I have to agree.While I just use it for basic tracking of keywords and traffic I know you can get a lot more in depth with it than that.

Ive never actually heard of AWStats so I might check it out just for grins and giggles. Is it actually any good or does it dull in comparison to Google Analytics?

I took a look at AW and I have to say that I really prefer Google Analytics to that one. It might just be that I'm more used to it but I don't see myself switching anytime soon.

I decided to give AWstats a whirl to see how I like it.I'm going to use both from the get go with a new site and see which one I like better after a few months of seeing them both in action in the exact same setting.

While AW does seem to offer value, the fact that you're getting more hits through that service makes me think they are less discriminate with their analytics. Is the number grossly different? Perhaps you are looking at impressions rather than actual site visits.

Analyatics is much more in depth than AWstats. If you also use adsense you can link accounts and see where your adsense clicks are coming from as well. I keep finding myself checking google analyatics even after trying many alternatives like piwik or awstats.
