any self-taught professional computer programmers out there? how long did it take yourself to learn your trade?

well, I taught myself client-side coding and some server-side coding out of necessity. I am began as a designer and began to do sites for clients. with the amount of free scripts and forums online you can pretty much put anything together. of course if you do it for a living you have to be polished and that takes time and a lot of practice.
