After Panda Update on 24th Feb 2011, Google's re-ranking of sites for "original content". This Algorithm Update intended to demote sites which scrape content from others.

It can be hard to tell how much any specific factor boosts SEO, since search engines keep their algorithms a secret, but it certainly can't hurt.
