i agree. it really depends on your size. but PR is basically a third party saying good things about you. so this can easily be done by yourself and perhaps a couple of freelancers. lets say you want to release a press release…
then hire someone to write a professional press release then go to prweb.com or similar to send it out. this will cost less than a pr firm doing it for you.

If you have the budget for a pr firm though then the good ones are really worth every penny because of their contacts and resources.
