I think as long as the font is clear and easy to read you're all set. Pictures aren't necessary unless they help to illustrate a point. And it's OK to have a text article be long and take up several screenfuls.
Yeah, and stay away from background images for text articles. And if you write these articles yourself, be careful not to use anyone else's words or you could get SEO-penalized.
just remember unique content is very valuable to people and search engines. the text is important but i think images and pagenation can also serve your reader well if done right. my suggestion if this is the first time your doing this is to see some websites that you enjoy reading and see their ways of presenting their content.
