Website navigation is one of the important factor in getting good rank in search engines. As such there is no good or bad navigation, but you should consider design criteria and should keep seo friendly navigation is good for website.
I just kept in mind with one rule to use navigation links since they will be used by visitors to fins the content on our sites.
