    Default Joomla 1.5 Install Failing

    Greetings All,

I created a new linux sub-account today. When I realized that the subdomain name determines the name of the MySQL database parameters, I deleted the subdomain and recreated it.

While I was installing Joomla, I got an XML error when I tried to install the default data. "The XML returned from the server is invalid".

When I click next after that message, I get a white page with the following text:

Notice: Undefined index: DBtype in /var/www/domains/realestate.paradapolska.com/docs/installation/installer/models/model.php on line 764

Fatal error: Call to undefined method JException::getNullDate() in /var/www/domains/realestate.paradapolska.com/docs/installation/installer/helper.php on line 290

I have tried this a couple of times...

    Any suggestions would be helpful.

I have installed the previous version of Joomla without incident.

    Thanks all,

    Paul

If you're still having issues installing Joomla please try following our wiki article at http://wiki.myhosting.com/Joomla_Setup. Let me know if you encounter any further issues.

I also get this error. It occurs following the Main Configuration page, even when using the Wiki as a guide.

    What's the solution?

Just got off the phone with a friendly down-under voice, and he helped me get past step 6 without entering the sample data. Apparently, despite redundant strong suggestion by Joomla, this causes the XML error listed above. Skip that part of step 6 and all should be well.
