Change Domain Name
Hi All,
I have my domain name hosted with myhosting.com and up until the other day, we have had the site hosted with myhosting.com as well.
I changed the DNS to point to the new IP address (of our new servers) the other day but I still need FTP access to my old website. Also, I'd like to give users the ability to use the old website if they prefer (at old.my_domain.com).
I have the Basic Hosting plan. How can I change the domain that is used for the hosting plan?
Right now, I'm locked out of FTP access, can't really do much, can't hit old.my_domain.com even though I changed the DNS entry to point old.my_domain.com to the myhosting.com IP address.
Any help is much appreciated!
Cheers,
Dustin

Re: Change Domain Name
Even if you modified your DNS you can still login by FTP to myhosting.com servers. For the hostname, specify the Shared IP-Address of your account. For your username use your domain name and your myhosting.com password. This should grant you access by FTP without needed to modify your DNS.
Alternately, we do create a record called "ftp" which points ftp.your-domain.com to your site. If you didn't change this record, you can use this instead of the Shared IP address to connect to your site by FTP.
For creating old.your-domain.com, it may require more than just an A-record addition in your DNS record. We will have to define the Apache server to respond to old.your-domain.com and direct it to your site. Please contact our Customer Support team at support@myhosting.com and they can help you with this.
