Database Temporary tables

I'm installing Drupal... probably my first mistake but I like to maintain my own sites.

When I enable search I get an error message saying that temporary tables can't be created by this user. In several old threads on drupal.org this is pointed out as a problem in shared hosting environments where create temp tables permission isn't granted.

I have submitted a trouble ticket but despite asking the specific question am not getting a reasonable answer.

Do you have a link to the drupal thread you mentioned? I'm assuming this is a database issue?

I was wondering what you meant when you said installing Drupal was your first mistake. Is there something you really don't like about it?
