    Question WSS Column Widths

    Greetings,

I have WSS 3.0 with mail2web, and I've created a custom list. The problem is, I can't remember how to specify the column widths in the Standard View. Does anyone know how to do this?

    Thanks,
    Shane.

    Hi Shane,

I've been trying to figure this out, but I haven't seen anywhere that the column widths can be customized.

It might be possible if you open the AllItems.aspx list page in SharePoint Designer 2007, and edit it there. So far I can see how to modify the width of the list as a whole, but not the individual columns. But this is uncharted territory for me.

You mentioned that you can't remember how to do it, does that mean that you did it once before? Any rough ideas of how?

    Hi Shane,

I almost forgot about DataSheet View. When you are viewing any list in your SharePoint Site, if you select the "Actions" menu, you can click on "Edit in DataSheet". Then you can drag and resize the column, just like you would in Excel or Access. Also, if you right click on the Column header, you can select "Column Width...". But make sure you're using Internet Explorer, some advanced SharePoint options like this won't display in other browsers.

Is this what you were looking for?
