How do i fix 404 error?

I have been getting this 404 error on my site and i don't know why? I have all my files in the HTTP Docs folder but it gives me the 404 error. the main page to my site is called index.html is that right? should i call it something else like home.html? please answer these questions. i have tried everything but it won't work? do i need to also put on the picture files on my website? i already called customer services and am still confused?

What platform do you use? do you use any CMS? index.html file usually takes precidence on website and will load first when visiting your URL
