Default Connect to SQL Server 2008 w/ Mngmt Studio

    Hello,

I am trying to connect to my database using SQL Server 2008 Management Studio. When I log on successfully and click on databases I get the error:

Failed to retrieve data for this request. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Sdk.Sfc)
    - An exception occurred while ececuting a Transact-SQL statement or batch. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo)
    - Invalid object name 'msdb.dbo.syspolicy_configuration'. (Microsoft SQL Server, error: 208)

I can connect to the database on my development server both locally and from another machine, connecting to the remote 2008 myhosting db causes this error.

    any help is much appreciated,

    Thanks

I have the exact same problem...

Anyone out there that can answer this? Using the crippled web interface is really inconvenient.

Our operations team has looked into the problem you are having and they are thinking it could be related to the version of SQL Management Studio you are using to connect to the DB. Microsoft released RC0 last week, but we have not upgraded as of yet. We are planning to do this next week and are awaiting upgrade installation documentation from the GoLive team

Alternatively the problem could be with the your DB, we would require your DB name to further troubleshoot this problem. If you would like to continue this investigation please send an email to support@myhosting.com with a description of the problem and your domain name and database name. We'll be able to troubleshoot further with that information.

I get the same message, but I'm not sure if the problem is the same.

I was using SQL server 2005 EE and everything was fine. Now I moved to 2008 EE version and I also expierience no problems.

Although when I try to view databeses in my User Instance I get this message:

TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
    ------------------------------

Failed to retrieve data for this request. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Sdk.Sfc)

    For help, click: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?ProdName ... nkId=20476

    ------------------------------
    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo)

    ------------------------------

Invalid object name 'msdb.dbo.syspolicy_configuration'. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 208)

    For help, click: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?ProdName ... nkId=20476
    What I'm doing is:
    - run user instance with SSEUtil
    - I'm connecting to it by using management studio 2008 ee
    - I try to expand databases
    - I get the message above.

I can connect to UI but I can't see any db there. What should I do?

    Hi Magnat,

What version of SSMS are you using? You can find this out by running SSMS, then going to the menu and choose "Help" then "About". If you can provide me with this information it should help to troubleshoot the problem you're having.
