Default Virtual Hyper-V Hosting vs. Normal Windows Administration

    Greetings all,

I just signed up for Virtual Server Hosting with myhosting.com and find that things are a bit more difficult to achieve that I would have thought.

    1) When I log in am I the administrator? Seems like not, but not sure what the difference is...

    2) Should it be possible to share a folder? I cannot. I get an error.

    3) I tried to install gotomypc as I am used to using it and it is handy for file transfers... I see the icon, installed on the menu, but nothing happens when I click on it...It never shows up in the system tray...and I was never prompted to do the connectivity test.

    4) Since I need to transfer files and gotomypc did not work, I tried to set up an ftp server. I am not used to IIS 7.0 and can't seem to get it to work. My local FTP client simply will not connect. I have tried basic authentication and anonymous connections. I checked the firewall for both ftp and gotomypc and it seems like they should be able to connect in and out as required, but no good.

    5) I want to create a sub domain as portal.vps0400.vps.myhosting.com but have never done it. Can someone point me to where and how I can do this? -- Sorry not really virtual hosting related...

    6) User Account Control -- I have seen this before and usually turn it off. Any gotchas if I do turn it off in a virtual hosting scenario?

    7) I already turned of the very annoying IE controls that prevent you from getting out to any website. Adding sites as trusted sites simply did not fix it.

    8) What if...I want to recycle the hosting platform? If I really screw it up, how hard is it to restore it to 'factory condition'?

    9) Can someone setup a forum for just virtual hosting?

    Thanks!!

    Paul

I would assume that you should be able to share files since that's the premise behind virtual servers.
