What is virtual private server (VPS) or virtual dedicated server (VDS)? - Definition from Whatis.comQuote:
A virtual private server (VPS), also called a virtual dedicated server (VDS), is a virtual server that appears to the user as a dedicated server but is actually installed on a computer serving multiple Web sites. A single computer can have several VPSs, each one with its own operating system
The two terms means the same thing. VPS (Virtual Private Server) is the current hosting industry term for a Virtual Server.
Virtual Machine Server is an older term when virtualization was first starting, but still means the same thing.
