Default software backups and virtual servers

If you have a virtual server, does that mean you don't have to back up your files on software anymore? Or is it a good idea to keep doing software backups just in case?

i would still recommend doing backups at the domain level. you may have the vps backup option, however if you are looking to just back up a single database or website file, doing a total vps restore would likely be overkill, and effect all domains on the server.
