    Question Trouble Installing WordPress

    Greetings,

I would like to install WordPress, but the "Install" button is missing in Parallels Plesk Panel 10.3.1. I'm guessing that the reason it's missing is that my VPS doesn't meet the requirements; specifically, the mod_rewrite Apache module isn't loaded. How can I load this module?

    Thanks,
    Shane.

    Hi Shane,

I presume you're using Plesk? I've seen this issue before actually, if the install button is missing, it usually means you don't have hosting configured at all for the domain you're managing. The install button will be there otherwise and it won't check requirements until you begin the install process.

Actually, when you first register domains in myhosting.com onCloud and then sync them to Plesk, it will not setup hosting by default at all. This can be somewhat confusing I know, we are working on it with Parallels.

To add hosting, click the "Websites & Domains" tab in Plesk and click Add Hosting beside the domain name in question. If you don't see that, click on the domain name itself in the list at the bottom of the page. This should bring up the add hosting wizard (if it hasn't been run) or will otherwise provide you with hosting options like PHP, SSL and more. You should not need to worry about mod_rewrite.

    Question Apache Modules

I'm using Parallels Plesk Panel 10.3.1.

I've added hosting for the domain, and then the Install button appeared, after which I was able to install WordPress.

It appears that Apache Modules are switched off. Is it very hard to turn them back on?

    Thanks,
    Shane.

We have a detailed article on the Plesk VPS Optimized package that comes with the Plesk for Business plans at http://myhosting.com/kb/Plesk_VPS_fo..._VPS_Optimized. This article also includes details on reenabling features disabled by that package. Not all modules are disabled, but with Plesk for Business, it is recommended to run PHP in fastcgi mode.
