Outlook Configuration

Outlook 2007 Configuration for Exchange

  1. If Outlook 2007 is open, close it. From the File menu select Exit.
  2. Go to the Windows control panel. Select User Accounts and then Mail. Or if you are using the "Classic View" control panel, click on Mail.
  3. From the Mail window, click Add... to set up a new profile.



  4. When prompted, choose a name for your new Profile and then click OK.



    Select Add a new e-mail account and click Next.



    Select Manually configure server settings or additional server types and click Next.

  5. Select Microsoft Exchange Server as the type of email account and click Next.



  6. In the Exchange Server Settings window, enter the following details:
    • Microsoft Exchange Server: Your Exchange Server Name (usually like mbx??.ad2.softcom.biz)
    • Select the Use Cached Exchange Mode option
    • User name: Your Exchange Email Address
    • Do not click on the Check Name button.



  7. Click on the More Settings... button. At this point a connection will be attempted to the server. It will take approximately 60 seconds and will time out with the following error. Click OK.



  8. You'll then see a window similar to the following. Click on the Cancel button.



  9. On the next window you'll see 5 tabs: General, Advanced, Security, Connection and Remote Mail. Leave the Connection tab for last. Duplicate the settings which appear below.




  10. Next, select the Connection tab. Check mark the Connect to my Exchange mailbox using HTTP option. If you do not see the Exchange over the Internet option, you'll need to install this patch. After installing the patch, if you still do not see the option, please try this solution.



  11. Click on the Exchange Proxy Settings... button. Enter the following details:
    • Use this URL to connect to my proxy server for Exchange: https://ex7.myhosting.com
    • Clear (uncheck) the option Mutually authenticate the session when connecting with SSL
    • Select the option On fast networks, connect using HTTP first, then connect using TCP/IP
    • Select the option On slow networks, connect using HTTP first, then connect using TCP/IP
    • Proxy Authentication Setting: Basic Authentication



  12. Now click OK on the Exchange Proxy Settings window, then OK on the Microsoft Exchange Server window. Then click Next on the Email Accounts window, and then click the Finish button.



  13. You'll now see your account listed in the Mail profiles list. Click OK to close the Window and save your settings.



  14. Now you can open Outlook 2007. You will be prompted to enter your User name and password when Outlook 2007 starts.
    • User name: **Your Exchange Email Address**
    • Password: **Your Exchange account password*



      It will take a minute or two for your account to be configured in Outlook. When it is complete, you can begin using your account!

Outlook 2010 Configuration for Exchange

Note: Outlook 2010 is Compatible with Exchange 2007. You are not required to use Outlook 2007 when connecting to an Exchange 2007 server.

  1. If Outlook 2010 is open, close it. From the File menu, click on Exit.
  2. Go to the Windows Control Panel. Select User Accounts and then Mail. Or if you are using the "Classic View" control panel, click on Mail.
  3. From the Mail window, click Add... to set up a new profile.


  4. When prompted, choose a name for your new Profile and click OK.



  5. Select the option labeled Manually configure server settings or additional server types. Then click Next.



  6. Select the Microsoft Exchange or compatible service option.



  7. In the Exchange Server Settings window, enter the following details:
    • Microsoft Exchange Server: Your Exchange Server Name (usually like mbx??.ad2.softcom.biz)
    • Select Use Cached Exchange Mode
    • User name: **youremail@yourdomain.com**

      Now click on the More Settings... button to proceed.



  8. On the next window you'll see 4 tabs including General, Advanced, Security and Connection. Leave the Connection tab for last. Duplicate the settings which appear below for General, Advanced and Security.

      

  9. Next, select the Connection tab. Check the Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP check box. (If you do not see the Exchange over the Internet option, you'll need to install this patch. After installing the patch, if you still do not see the option, please try this solution.)



  10. Click on the Exchange Proxy Settings... button. In the new window that opens, enter the following details:
    • Use This URL to connect to my proxy server for Exchange:https://ex7.myhosting.com
    • Uncheck/Clear the option Only connect to proxy servers that have this principal name in their certificate
    • Check the option On fast networks, connect using HTTP first, then connect using TCP/IP
    • Check the option On slow networks, connect using HTTP first, then connect using TCP/IP
    • Proxy Authentication Setting: Basic Authentication



  11. Now click OK on the Microsoft Exchange Proxy Settings window, then OK on the Microsoft Exchange Server window. Then click Next to finish adding your account.



  12. You will now see a confirmation message that your account setup is complete. Click Finish.



  13. You will now see your profile listed in the Mail profiles list. Click OK to close the window and save your settings.



  14. Now you can open Outlook 2010. You will be prompted to enter your User name and password when it starts.
    • User Name: **youremail@yourdomain.com**
    • Password: **Your Password**

"Exchange over the Internet" option is missing

If the Exchange over the Internet area does not appear on the Connection tab of the Microsoft Exchange Server dialog box, please review this article.
