Compressing files saves disk space in your account while still
keeping them available for when you need them. myhosting.com File
Manager gives you the ability to compress files using Zip compression.
To start, access the File Manager from your Control Panel.
First, you will need to select which files you wish to
compress. You can do so by check marking the files you want on the left
hand side. You can select both files and folders to compress. From
there, click on the "Zip" icon in the menu bar.
A pop up menu will appear asking you to name the zip file you
are going to create. It already suggests a name based on the files you
have selected.
When you have typed in the filename you want for your compressed file or are happy with the suggested filename, click on OK. After a few moments, your File Manager window will refresh and you will see a new compressed file.
Once you have compressed the file or files that you have, you may want to delete the original files to save space.
Note: You may see some folders with a "_" prefix like "_vti_script".
Do NOT touch or delete these folders. They are critical to the
operation of the FrontPage extensions and changing them in any way can
corrupt the FrontPage Extensions and possibly breaking your website from
functioning normally.
