You can use the myhosting.com File Manager to create any folder you
need anywhere in your website. It is always a good idea to keep your
website organized with folders so that your root folder is not cluttered
with all the files for your website. This makes it easier to navigate
and know the purpose of each file you have.
To start creating a folder, access the myhosting.com File Manager from your Control Panel.
The File Manager starts in what is called the "root" folder of
your site. This is the very top of your website folder structure. If
you wish to create a sub-folder of an existing folder, please navigate
to that folder. You can navigate those folders simply by clicking on
the folder name. You can find out what folder you are in by the
"Folder" field in the File Manager.
Once you are in the location you want to create a folder, click
on the "New Folder" icon. A pop up window will appear prompting you to
name this new folder. Please enter in the name of the folder you wish
to create and click on "OK".
After a short moment, you will be returned to the File Manager
window and it will refresh itself to show you the newly created folder.
There are some folders that are already made for you to help you with
your website. The "cgi-bin" folder is a place where you can place all
your CGIs to add more interactivity to your website. The "fpdb" folder
is where you must place all your Microsoft Access databases because this
folder gives all files in it modify permissions from a visitor.
Note: You may see some folders with a "_" prefix like
"_vti_script". Do NOT touch or delete these folders. They are critical
to the operation of the FrontPage extensions and changing them in any
can can corrupt the FrontPage Extensions and possibly breaking your
website from functioning normally.
