What is ASP.NET?

ASP.NET is a coding language which lets you create dynamic web pages. Such uses could be a search page, a discussion forum, or an e-commerce shopping cart. ASP.NET server controls have been designed to allow you to build great pages with far less code than with classic ASP. ASP.NET is also much faster, more scalable and reliable than classic ASP resulting in increased productivity.

Do I have to use ASP.NET?

No. You have the choice of using either ASP or ASP.NET for your web site. Using ASP.NET will provide you significant advantages over classic ASP.

ASP.NET Support

myhosting.com supports both ASP, ASP.NET 1.1 and ASP.NET 2.0. All Windows 2003 hosting plans activated before February 28, 2008 are activated with .NET 1.1 installed. To upgrade to .NET 2.0, simply log into your control panel,

  1. Select Site Management
  2. Select Site Settings
  3. Select ASP.NET Version to complete the upgrade to 2.0.

All Windows 2008 hosting plans activated on February 28, 2008 or later are activated with .NET 2.0.

Please Note: .NET 2.0 includes the .NET 3.0 and 3.5 updates.
