The virtual private server is a relatively new option in the virtual server hosting market. A VPS is a partition of a physical server that is completely separate from other partitions of the device, giving users a dedicated feel. A recent report from Are West Solutions said Microsoft Hyper-V has become helpful to making VPS servers more powerful.

At its core, a VPS server is a virtual machine that has its own dedicated RAM, operating system and other system resources. It is also more secure than some other hosting options because what happens with one virtual machine will not usually impact other partitions on the same physical device, the report said.

Hyper-V, which is one of the newest hypervisors to enter the market, has a number of features that make VPS servers more powerful and more secure, the report said, making it one of the most versatile hosting options available.

A recent WindowsBlog.net report said Hyper-V is important because it is so compatible with Windows VPS hosting plans. Windows-based virtual private servers are becoming popular quickly because users are familiar with interface used to manage and control the device, according to the report.
