Management Capabilities Get An Upgrade With NetApp

Efficacy has quickly replaced hype as cloud computing’s new main feature, as more and more businesses make the switch to private or hybrid clouds. Even those that are not yet ready for the jump to the cloud are trying out virtualization, the first step to taking advantage of the cloud. Now, cloud technology provider NetApp is offering companies a new way to increase the speed of their transition to the cloud with NetApp OnCommand.

OnCommand is a piece of cloud management software that helps gives companies control over their own cloud environment, and is intended to work with other management solutions under NetApp’s Alliance Technology Partner Program. This will allow companies to benefit not only from On Command’s robust list of features, but know that it will also work well with other leading management solutions that are currently on the market.

NetApp’s new software is designed to deliver four of the essential elements that must come with any cloud: automation, service analytics, a service catalog and self-service. On Command provides policy-based automation, service analytics for storage, and the creation of tailored service catalogs, all under an easy-to-use, self-service umbrella.

According to Val Bercovici, a cloud czar at NetApp, “IT leaders are seeking alternatives that help them keep pace with the demands of their business today while allowing them to adapt and evolve as their business grows,” and one of the most crucial tools in keeping pace with the changing cloud industry is the need for dedicated management tools that can respond to client needs.

NetApp has also provided a “home for all things cloud” on their Web site, allowing users to not only get the most from OnCommand, but learn where the industry is headed.
