VPS hosting companies and their respective users received a new set of tools in November, as Parallels Plesk Panel 10 was made available.
The panel offers a complete set of controls for VPS hosting companies, allowing them to offer more services to hosting customers. Plesk is one of the most popular control panels available and is offered by major Web hosting companies around the world, including industry leaders in several countries.
Some of the most impressive features of Parallels Plesk Panel 10 are actually bundled for free with the product. Customer and Business Manager, which offers a payment and customer-handling component integrated into VPS hosting, is accompanied by Parallels SiteBuilder, which allows for easier site building and regular updates for virtual private server hosting companies that offer Web hosting.
Jack Zubarev, the President of Marketing and Alliances at Parallels, has noted that the new features were developed by monitoring some of the key businesses that have used previous versions of the software. A press release from Parallels called Parallels Panel 10 a “game changer” and noted hundreds of new functions that the software will offer to Web hosting and virtual private server customers, including better ease-of-use and broader operating system support for different VPS applications.
Parallels Plesk Panel 10 also offers a special VPS-optimized version, which is capable of offering a 3X reduced memory footprint when compared to the standard version of the product. This version is already in use at hundreds of virtual private server hosting companies. Given the ease of use and ability to add services that Parallels Plesk Panel 10 offers, it is assumed that the program will be in use in many other environments by the end of the year and on into 2011.
