Brian Madden reports Parallels has released Virtuozzo Containers version 4.6 without recognizing the event with a press release or any other official announcement.
According to the news source, Virtuozzo Containers is among the most popular application in the virtual private server industry because it allows web hosting administrators to virtualize servers by splitting them into multiple partitions running separate operating systems.
Separating operating systems into distinct virtual devices allows virtual server hosting providers to clearly establish barriers between separate tenants, allowing them to offer improved customization and management tools.
According to the Parallels website, Virtuozzo is a virtual operating system that can help data centers maximize their resources on virtualized servers. Lukas Loesche, director of IT operations at Arvato Mobile, told the company "we found the performance of Virtuozzo Containers to be the best. We still use other virtualization solutions in our lab environment, but Virtuozzo is the only software we use for production servers."
By deploying Parallels virtualization solutions in conjunction with Virtuozzo, the company says, virtual server hosting providers can maximize their investment in IT infrastructure, manage virtual servers from one central console, respond flexibly to business needs and simplify IT operations.
