According to Ronan Kavanagh, CEO of anti-spam software developer SpamTitan, “the uptake of cloud computing is set to increase in 2011 with cost savings and flexibility being the key motivators.” This uptake comes with several unpleasant side effects, one of the most obvious and most annoying being an increase the in amount of spam on virtual and cloud networks.
Recent data shows that spammers are now creating fake URL-shortening sites which encourage users to pare down their long URLs, but when used by a recipient will re-direct to a spam page. Spammers are constantly trying to get their foot in the door at any company, and virtual and cloud environments are no bar to their attempts.
Much has been made about the insecurity of the public cloud and even private hosted or virtualized solutions, but the fact is that spam happens no matter the type of network a company is running on. Now, SpamTitan has developed the first cloud-based virtual appliance that is intended to help companies who are concerned about the potential insecurity of multi-tenant hosting solutions, and instead provides a cloud-based single-tenant appliance solution to combat incoming spam.
SpamTitan’s driving factors the new appliance are flexibility, affordability, and ease of use for customers, and the company is currently offering a 30-day trial of their on-demand spam solution for interested companies.
Currently, there is no reseller program for this hosting channel, thought the SpamTitan website indicates that the company is willing to work with any business that can help facilitate the technical growth of their products or that can aid in the development of SpamTitan’s sales channel.
