Report: Businesses increasingly adopting CMS

Companies using a virtual server hosting provider to host their websites are still faced with somewhat daunting development tasks because they are still responsible for building, and sometimes maintaining the site.

According to a recent Web Host Geeks report, businesses are increasingly turning to content management systems in an effort to alleviate some of the struggles associated with developing a website stored on a shared, dedicated or VPS server.

The report said CMS deployments facilitate website development because they use a template system to enable non-developers to add and edit content on the site. Through this process, content creators are forced to work within specific parameters set forth by the developer, unifying the website's look and feel.

CMS technology can also be used to improve solutions for tracking and accountability within a business. Because passwords are used to give content creators access to the system, behavior can be tracked and users can be held responsible for their content.

Choosing the right content management system to help with website development can be a challenge, Fierce Content Management reports. Because so many open source CMS programs exist, compatibility and interoperability issues must be navigated.
