Small- and medium-sized businesses are often lauded as the first adopters of cloud computing technology, and a recent report from Parallels said the virtual server hosting industry has been key to the cloud's success in the market sector.
According to Parallels, cloud-based virtual private server plans are making IaaS cloud computing popular in SMB environments, and three advances hold the key to the long-term success of the cloud VPS.
Elasticity is the first of these advances, as cloud computing enables flexible resource scaling and gives businesses the ability to deploy technological resources and infrastructure scalably, according to the report.
API access is also critical to the cloud's long-term success, the report said, because full access to APIs can simplify the cloud while improving elasticity.
The report's final advance comes in the data center, as GUI-based data center infrastructure is a critical area for growth because it allows servers and virtual machines to connect and establish IaaS architecture.
Recently, Parallels announced a new virtualization product designed to make cloud VPS hosting easier and more profitable. The Parallels Automation for Cloud Infrastructure is an out-of-the-box cloud solution that uses modular design and hypervisor-agnostic technologies to ease cloud VPS design.
