Changing Admin Password for Windows Virtual Servers
If you want to change your admin password for your Windows virtual server you will need to follow the steps listed below.
- The first step in changing the admin password is to connect to your server through remote desktop. Once you've connected press the START button and then right-click on COMPUTER and then select the MANAGE option.
- The Server Manager application will load. Expand the CONFIGURATION tree and then expand the LOCAL USERS AND GROUPS tree.
- Next click on USERS folder under the LOCAL USERS AND GROUPS section. This will display your users on the right-hand side. Right-click on the admin user (Server Owner) and choose the SET PASSWORD option.
- This will prompt you with an error. You can ignore this error and press the PROCEED button.
- Enter the new password twice and press the OK button.
- Once you've changed the password you will receive the following confirmation.
That's all there is to it. Once you're done you should log off of your server and then log back in with the new password.
Disabling Password Expiration for Windows Virtual Servers
If you want to prevent your user's passwords for your Windows virtual server from expiring you will need to follow the steps listed below.
- The first step in disabling a user’s password from expiring is to connect to your server through remote desktop. Once you've connected press the START button and then right-click on COMPUTER and then select the MANAGE option.
- The Server Manager window will be displayed. Expand the CONFIGURATION tree and then expand the LOCAL USERS AND GROUPS tree.
- Next click on USERS folder under the LOCAL USERS AND GROUPS section. This will display your users on the right-hand side. Right-click on the user that you want to disable the password timeout for and then click on the “Properties” option.
- Next, check the “Password Never Expires” checkbox and press the APPLY button.
