Using a Sub-Domain for SharePoint

If you already own a domain name, you don't need to register a second domain name in order to sign up for a SharePointâ„¢ Services web site. You can easily activate a SharePoint Services hosting plan using a sub-domain name, based on your existing domain name registration. For example, if your domain name is www.your-domain.com, you could sign up for a SharePoint Services account under a sub-domain like:

  • internal.your-domain.com
  • external.your-domain.com
  • intranet.your-domain.com
  • extranet.your-domain.com
  • team.your-domain.com
  • sharepoint.your-domain.com
  • partner.your-domain.com
  • portal.your-domain.com
  • wss.your-domain.com
  • group.your-domain.com
  • Or anything else you choose!

All that you will need to do is sign up using the sub-domain you have selected and we will provide you with the DNS settings for your account. Then contact your current hosting provider and ask them to make a modification to your DNS record to create the sub-domain for you.

Or if you already host your domain name with myhosting.com, we'll make the modifications for you automatically when you sign up for your account!
